3 in PE, 5 at Nambwa lodge, 9 at flight safari to Kaokoveld, 4 in CT, 3 in PE, 2 in Pretoria with friends, 66 days for traveling with our camper including 11 days of rest = avg. of 196 Km per day.
 
Highlights
 
  • Within one day we could watch 25 different Rhinos at the Khama Rhino NP, Botswana
  • Kubu Island in the Makgadikgadi Plain: big baobabs and rock formations in the middle of nowhere
  • Chobe NP: impressive number of wild animals, often very close to the car, still our favorite NP
  • Nambwa lodge: new, exclusive tented lodge up in the trees at the Kwando River
  • Etosha NP: large groups of Elephants, Giraffes, Gnus, Zebras, Impalas etc., still very impressive
  • Kaokoveld: very remote, wild and beautiful desert landscape with large dry river beds
  • Wüstenquell is a very lonely desert place with strange rock formations and bushman paintings
  • Namib Rand desert camp in the sand dunes, with a tough 4x4 scenic drive
  • Fishriver Canyon, the 'African Gran Canyon', where we climbed down 42 years ago
  • Richtersveld NP: demanding 4x4 tracks over rough stones and deep sand
  • Cape Town, where we lived and worked from 1973 - 75, is still a beautiful place
  • No accidents, no serious problems, not even a flat tire: our camper performed very well
